About Jis Joy
Jis Joy is a Consultant Psychologist at Softmind, providing psychological counselling in Kochi. He holds an MA in Psychology, with certificates in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). He has also received training in neurofeedback and neurotechnology.
His professional interests centre on the relationship between psychological experience, brain–body processes and the evolutionary foundations of human behaviour. This perspective informs his attention to how previous experiences, learning, relationships and present circumstances may shape a person’s emotional and behavioural responses.
His areas of practice include anxiety, low mood and trauma-related concerns. Sessions involve understanding recurring patterns, identifying relevant goals and developing practical ways of responding to difficulties in everyday life.
His therapeutic work draws on CBT and DBT methods, including skills for emotional regulation and managing distress. Neurofeedback and other technology-assisted interventions may be considered where appropriate, with the specific method, purpose and suitability discussed within the care plan.
Progress is reviewed collaboratively, with attention to changes that matter to the person’s experience and daily functioning.
